Diabetes NSW and Jamie's Ministry of Food Wetherill Park joined forces to teach both type 1 and type 2 diabetics and their families how to make good nutritious food for them. Wonderful social connections also formed with other local diabetics helping to build a healthier, happier community.
Jamie's Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen QLD and WA are now on the road delivering the program into Indigenous communities where rates of obesity and type 2 diabetes are much higher than for the average Australian.
Errington Special Education visited Jamie's Ministry of Food Pop-Up Noarlunga for a day of cooking in the community. The year 12 students are working towards completing their Food Handling Course, and it was an excellent opportunity for the students to build upon their cooking knowledge and experience in a community environment.
Settlement Service International booked in a group of asylum seekers to help them develop home cooking skills and build connections in their new community. The course at Jamie's Ministry of Food Wetherill Park taught handy cooking tips and useful nutrition information, while helping the students to connect with fellow asylum seekers.
